Sense Melbourne Announced.

Sense in the City has begun production in Melbourne Australia. The ‘living guide’ to one of the world’s most liveable cities will follow the same model as Sydney and Athens Greece with a podcast, long-form articles and in-person events.

The Sense in the City Melbourne Podcast will be hosted by David Fuller, who grew up in Melbourne before living overseas in London, Dubai and Athens. David brings a unique perspective to the project, re-experiencing and rediscovering his home-town after an extended absence.

I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and went to the University of Melbourne in the early 90’s. It was a different place back then. But like many cities around the world, the more things change the more they stay the same and it’s okay to be nostalgic and remember the past as well as embrace the changes. I’m looking forward to sharing the familiar and the novel stories.

David Fuller, Sense in the City – Melbourne Podcast Host

Designed as an ‘evergreen’ multi-sensory guide to the city, the podcast is the first step to a multi-channel augmented reality journey through the times, spaces and characters of the city.

Throughout the hype of the metaverse, podcasts have remained popular with travellers and people who are looking to explore. The ambient sounds of the city create a richer experience. There’s another reason we like audio. No matter where you are in your journey – dreaming, planning, visiting, re-living… you can listen, even while doing something else.

  • Standing in your kitchen, cutting leeks for soup in the middle of a New York winter, listening…
  • Building your Pinterest board, playing with your itinerary, adding ‘Must Dos’, listening…
  • Easing your seat back for a 19 hour flight to the other side of the world, listening…
  • Standing at 33° 51′ 7.9992” S – 151° 12′ 38.0016” E looking east, listening…
  • Still buzzing, 3 months after returning home, walking the dog, listening…

Unlike generative AI tools, our content is curated and anchored to a place. These places are mapped. Each episode is designed to augment the experience of the space or place. Rather than a prescriptive tour, the content can be listened to at any time in any order.  Open the map, find the nearest content, experience the place with an extra level of context and insight. Be transported backwards or forwards in time through stories and spatial sounds.

As well as the podcast, Sense in the City Melbourne will have a regular newsletter through substack including free and paid content.
