Jack Ryan in Athens

Jack Ryan Season 3 Athens Locations.

Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s ‘Jack Ryan’ is here, and for fans of Athens, the first two episodes of the show feature the Greek capital heavily. Shot in the fall of 2021, when Covid restrictions had been eased in Greece, the series features many identifiable landmarks from around Athens.

What Athens Locations were used in Jack Ryan Season 3?

Cape Sunion & Temple of Poseidon in Jack Ryan Season 3

The first shot of Greece in season 3 of Jack Ryan is Cape Sunion, with the Temple of Poseidon silhouetted against the sunset. 75km from Athens, it’s a popular day trip with visitors, but often very windy… so dress accordingly.

Legrana Beach – Jack Ryan, Season 3 – Episode 1

Close to Cape Sunion, Jack Ryan arrives on Greek soil at Legrana beach. It’s a rugged, quiet spot (where else for a CIA agent to come ashore in a RIB?). Not many amenities so not many tourists.

The coastal road from Athens to Cape Sunion

If you do choose to do the day trip from Athens to Cape Sunion and the Temple of Poseidon, make sure you get a window seat so you can look out to sea. The views are spectacular and varied, including small islands and the colourful sails and kites of water sports fans. Even better – hire a car if you can so you can stop off at the 4 Brothers Fish Taverna in Anavyssos for lunch.

Omonia Roundabout, Athens – Jack Ryan Season 3, Episode 1

In the heart of Athens is the neighbourhood of Omonia. This area has a chequered history, but recent hotel openings, like the Moxy Athens City and the Brown Lighthouse Athens and the rebuilding of the central fountain are seeing the area being slowly gentrified. There are some great options for traditional cheap eats around here, like the Old Omionia Grill & Cook House.

Athens Central Fish Market – Jack Ryan Season 3, Episode 2

Not far down the road from Omonia, is the central Athens market. Fish, poultry and meat from local producers. Not just the plastic wrapped stuff you get in the fridge at your supermarket, but all kinds of fresh ingredients – a chefs paradise.

The Ancient Agora of Athens featured in Jack Ryan, Season 3

And of course there are some crowd favourites. To avoid spoilers, we haven’t included the shots from Monastiraki or the scene setting shots of the Parthenon and Acropolis. Jack has car chases through Psyri and the Flea market. Much of the time in Athens is shot in a mechanic’s garage down towards Piraeus, and there are shots of police stations and the American embassy. See how many you can recognise.
